Established in 1892, The Queen’s originally operated as a hotel and drinking establishment for workers during the coal-mining days. Over the most recent decades, this historic building has become known as a landmark for local, national and international quality acts in all genres of music and entertainment.

The local Nanaimo scene has played a large part in the development of the room, with entertainers that include David Gogo, Wunderbread, Rubbersoul, Camille Miller, Teri Puckett, Michael Patrick, etc... These local acts have laid a foundation that has engaged the audiences of Nanaimo and opened the door for touring acts from around the world. From the 1989 appearance of Down Child Blues Band to the recent performance of Aaron Pritchett, The Queen's has hosted a multitude of touring luminaries. The list seems (and hopefully is) endless... John Hammond Jr., James Cotton, Bif Naked, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Kim Mitchell, David Wilcox, Hypnotist Anthony Cools, Tegan and Sarah, Big Sugar, Daniel Wesley, Wide Mouth Mason, Trooper, Buckwheat Zydeco, Jim Byrnes, Ron Sexsmith, Maria Muldaur, Charlie Musselwhite, Bone Thugs, April Wine, Swollen Members, Sweatshop Union, Classified, Mobb Deep, 2 Live Crew,  Everlast, George Canyon, Emerson Drive, Mobile. Grady, The Trews, The Odds, Current Swell, Hey Ocean, Sean Kingston, Gord Bamford, Thornley... and many more…

The building is solid and the entertainment is world class, but the audience ensures our future. We are committed to bringing you the highest quality acts and service, and thank you for your past and continued patronage.
